What is COVID-19

Corona viruses are large groups of viruses that are common amongst animals, those viruses can make people sick, usually with a mild to moderate upper respiratory tract illness, similar to a common cold.

A new forum of coronavirus had been found called COVID-19, which was identified in China and is associated with an outbreak of pneumonia.

Older adults and people with underlying health conditions or compromised immune systems may be at higher risk of severe illness from this virus.

The symptoms of COVID-19 are:
▪️a cough
▪️a fever
▪️shortness of breath

These symptoms do not necessarily mean you have the illness. The symptoms are similar to other illnesses that are much more common, such as cold and flu

South Africans should cooperate with disease control efforts which have been outlined in the effort to reduce the risk of catching or spreading COVID-19.

These include:
– Washing of hands
– Social distancing
– Staying at home to minimise the risk of infection

South African still has a long way to curb the COVID-19 outbreaks, but the is hope with China showing no bew cases.
